11th ANNUAL V.F.W. “GOLF WAR” SCHEDULED

(TRINITY, TEXAS) – The 11th Annual Veteran’s “Golf War” tournament is set for 9 AM Saturday, Oct. 6th at Westwood Shores Country Club in Trinity.   The event is open to all veterans of all ages with U. S. military service and National Guard – whether or not service was in a war on foreign soil. The event is also open to friends of veterans 21 years old or older and military service is not required. Entry forms are available on the VFW Post #6899 website  or phone 594-0645 or 594-9467 or email us. Sign-up sheets are also available at the Westwood Shores Country Club pro shop.

The cost this year again is only $65 per player and includes entry fee, cart fee, golf give-away, and a tasty hamburger luncheon following the tournament.  Door prize tickets and “Mulligans” are also available for purchase.   Proceeds this year again go to the VFW operating fund that includes donations to area charities and the VFW scholarship fund that benefits area youth.  Additional door prize items are also featured this year.

The format is a 4-person Scramble and players can sign up as a team or as individuals who will be assigned to a team.  Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and a mystery place team, longest drives, and closest-to-the-pin on selected Par 3’s.   Again this year $10,000 is offered as a hole-in-one prize on the specified hole, thanks to Rusty Baker at Rollo Insurance.  Hole sponsorships are also available to area businesses or individuals for just $65 per hole and includes a sponsor sign on one of the tee boxes and mention in sponsor listings.
