Columnist Kissin’ Kuzzins – A Little Bit of History

(1)The Deep East Texas Archeological Society is hosting its Annual Christmas Dinner and Impromptu Auction from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Iris and Anne Howard Civic Center on 213 East Court Street. Dickie Dixon will cook 20 pounds of brisket, and members will bring the rest.
Mary Sue Tebbs and Sandra Litton will schedule the food to be brought. After everyone eats at 6 p.m., the Impromptu Auction begins from items members and guests have brought; proceeds fund some of the expenses of the Society for next year. Two of the items Dickie is bringing are: An envelope of breadfast poppy seeds and an 11th Street Cowboy Bar cap. As a fundraiser, Dickie will perform his impersonation of What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. The one who gives the most toward his performance will win a copy of Pops, a biography of Louis Armstrong. (2) President Dickie Dixon will cook 13 pounds of brisket for Angelina County Genealogical Society Impromptu Auction and Christmas Dinner at 2 pm on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Central Church of Christ right next to Pitser Garrison Civic Center on North First Street. Members of the Society and guests will bring sides. After the meal, Dickie will auction off items brought by members to fund expenses for 2023. (3) Titter Hogan is the featured speaker for the December 6, 2022 meeting of the Huntington Heritage and Genealogical Society at the Huntington Housing Authority Office in Huntington.
