Important Information from the Trinity Memorial Hospital District Board

On Monday, September 17, the Trinity Memorial Hospital District Board met for their regular monthly meeting to cover several important items. They voted to fill the vacant board Position One. The new board member seat had to be filled by a resident of Precinct One, and between the two applicants, they chose Charles Gardener to serve. After the election, he was sworn in.

One item of concern was the Tax Information submitted by TCAD printed in a recent edition of the Trinity Standard was incorrect. They inadvertently published data from the City of Trinity and not that of the TMHD. The Trinity County Appraisal District was supposed to print a correction, but somehow the newspaper printed the same incorrect information a second time.

The community was invited to two public tax hearings earlier this month; however, Board members were the only ones who attended. The Board reviewed the TMHD Tax Hearing Fact Sheet information and then voted to adopt the proposed tax rate of $0.1293300/$100 taxable value.

In January 2019 the Health-Point will take over management of the Clinic. Health-Point is a Federally Qualified Health Center. The Physicians will continue to be employed by CHI-St. Luke’s which will ensure a continued focus on quality health care and reduce the district cost to support the clinic.

The Board is also working with CHI-St. Luke’s and analyzing data on the cost to reopen the ER and labs. As more information is available, the community will be kept informed. Trinity Residents are encouraged to attend TMHD board meetings held the third Monday of the month at 5:30 PM at the hospital to learn about the actions the Board is taking to improve health care in the community. The community can keep up with the lasted news and updates on the hospital’s new website. Check out the TMHD website for information.
